Navin Sathi Club 2011 Durga Puja 0
Navin Sathi Club has ‘Benefits of Breast Milk‘ as its theme for the year 2011. In the pandal they depicted a story of Lord Ganesha where he drinks Goddess Parvati’s breast milk. The story goes like this – Once Lord Ganesha was asked by Goddess Parvati to not let anyone come into her house. Lord Shiva, Parvati’s husband and Ganesha’s father, wants to get into the house. Shiva and Ganesha do not know each other. Ganesha does not let Shiva to enter the house. Shiva becomes angry and chops off Ganesha’s head (which was originally a human head). Parvati comes to know about this and she asks Shiva to make her son Ganesha again alive. Shiva could not find a human head to fit into Ganesha’s body and so he fitted an elephant’s head in his body. Ganesha becomes alive. Seeing an elephant’s head on his son’s body, Parvati scolds Shiva and becomes very angry. Vishnu, Mahesh and Shiva all try to persuade Parvati but she does not loose her temper and sadness. Then Ganesha shows his ‘divya roop’ with many heads. Parvati is now assured that his son is alright and is very powerful. Then Ganesha goes into Parvati’s lap and starts drinking Parvati’s milk.
The Navin Sathi Club wanted to give a message through this story that even a God drinks mother’s milk and his power comes from his mother’s milk so why not human beings should drink their mother’s milk. The club is also very actively involved in increasing the awareness of benefits of mother’s milk among both married and unmarried women throughout the year.
Another amazing feature of this pandal is the usage of CDs to create a structure similar to Aurville of Pondicherry. Within this structure idols of Maa Durga, Ganesh etc. have been kept. Maa Durga is shown breast feeding Lord Ganesha.
